1.What is SRRC certification?
SRRC is a mandatory certification requirement by the National Radio Regulatory Commission. Since June 1, 1999, the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) has mandated that all radio component products sold and used within China must obtain Radio Type Approval Certification.
2. Scope of SRRC Certification
Radio equipment transmitting radio waves, mobile communication devices (including 2G/3G/4G standard smartphones and tablets), professional communication devices (digital two-way radios and other dedicated network equipment), wireless access devices (products using Bluetooth or 802.11a/b/g/n/ac standards, such as Bluetooth headsets, in-vehicle Bluetooth systems, all-in-one computers, laptops, and tablets), broadcasting and television equipment, radar navigation devices, short-range low-power devices (general-purpose low-power (short-range) radio transmitters, wireless control devices, remote controls, toys, RFID devices).
3. Differences between SRRC and other wireless authentication
Many enterprises confuse SRRC certification with international FCC certification (USA) and CE-RED certification (EU). In fact, although all three are aimed at wireless equipment, their scope of application and testing standards are different:
SRRC: Only applicable to the Chinese market, it is a compulsory certification, and the testing standards strictly follow China's "Radio Frequency Allocation Regulations";
FCC: applicable to the US market, divided into mandatory (such as wireless communication equipment) and voluntary (such as some low-power equipment), the detection focuses on the impact of electromagnetic radiation on human body and environment;
CE-RED: applicable to the European Union and the European Economic Area, is a mandatory certification, in addition to wireless performance, it also needs to comply with the EU's environmental protection, safety and other directives.
For enterprises going global, they need to apply for corresponding certifications according to the requirements of target markets; while for the China market, SRRC is the only wireless access standard.
4. SRRC Test Items
The test items of SRRC certification vary according to the emission frequency of the product. The main test contents include power, spectrum range, frequency tolerance, bandwidth and stray radiation. The specific test requirements are as follows:
1. The test equipment model shall be accompanied by detailed test procedures, methods, standards, conditions and test connection block diagram, and a copy of the latest valid test report shall be provided;
2. If the transmitting port of the measured equipment is a non-standard interface, the test connection cable and its attenuation value shall be provided with written or graphic description confirmed by the company's seal;
3. When necessary, the applicant shall send engineers and technicians to assist the test;
4. In order to improve the test pass rate, it is recommended that enterprises conduct pre-test on samples before formal submission for inspection.
5.Common problems and precautions
1. Who needs to apply?
Manufacturers or importers of radio transmitting equipment sold, used, or produced for the domestic market in China must apply for SRRC certification.
2. How long is the validity of the certification?
The SRC certificate is valid for five years and can be renewed after expiration.
3. How to identify authenticated devices?
Consumers can check their SRRC certification status by looking at the device nameplate or setting menu "CMIIT ID: XXXXXX...".
4. Modular certification: If the product uses a certified radio module, the whole product may not need to repeat the complete test, which can simplify the certification process and reduce costs.
